Find your balance

Ditch the “diet mentality”…

Together, we can recapture your body’s natural wisdom and build a positive relationship with food.

Our specialties

Disordered Eating

Disordered eating displays itself in a variety of different ways, and no two people are the same. Do thoughts of food, exercise and body feel like they consume your day? Do your eating and exercise habits determine how you view your self-worth? Do you have rules regarding food and exercise you cannot seem to step away from? If this is you, we see you, and we are here to help!

Chronic Dieting & Body Image Concerns

Have you tried every diet out there and feel like a failure because you did not get the results you wanted? Does the thought of not being on a diet make you anxious? We are here to tell you that you are NOT a failure. Science is clear, diets do not work and actually cause harm. Together we can leave dieting in the past and move forward into a nourished life.

Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating is an approach to food, nutrition, and your body that focuses on internal signals and respecting your body’s innate knowledge. We will work together to help you make peace with food, honor your hunger and fullness cues and discover satisfaction.

Cooking Education

Interested in learning more about food from the ground up? Would you like to feel comfortable going to the market, selecting what is in season then preparing a meal without a recipe? Cooking is Ethan’s passion. He can help you find creative and fun ways to feed your family, to raise conscious eaters and to set the foundation for happier mealtimes.

Performance Nutrition

Are you an athlete looking to optimize your performance? We can create a meal plan essential for recovery and a schedule for your eating that will increase performance and reduce reliance on supplements. The better you feel, the harder and further you can push yourself.

General Nutrition

In the world of social media and online content, there is a lot of misinformation about nutrition, exercise, and body image. It can be hard to know what is true. We get it, and we want to be a resource for you! If you have a specific medical nutrition need (for example diabetes or hypertension) or if you are interested in how to adequately nourish yourself, we can help.

Learn About Our Approach

We provide a holistic therapeutic approach to nutritional counseling guided by the philosophy of Intuitive Eating. Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based practice that places the focus of therapy on our relationship with food and the impact it has on both our mental and physical health.

The goal of this approach is to confront the inner voice that tells us how we should or should not look and listen to our internal body cues to make decisions. This begins with acceptance of yourself and your body.

The truth is that you can be healthy at any shape, size, or form and we support the Health at Every Size (HAES) community. Acceptance and love inside our bodies and minds enables us to be the best version of ourselves.

We support and value body diversity and believe that only you can determine how you feel in your own body.

While the primary goal of many diets is to change the outside of our bodies in order to see a change inside, we approach it the opposite way. Our process typically includes retraining the brain and body with a new perspective to reintroduce childlike experiences of eating before we grew our internal biases around health and body image. This begins with rejecting the diet mentality and the idea that restriction leads to health. Our style does not include dieting or any quick fix for how you want to feel or look. We do not use scales or establish weight loss goals but instead create a qualitative relationship to food rather than a quantitative one. Intuitive eating is an intensely self-reflective adventure to make sustainable changes in your life from the inside out. Part of this process is acknowledging how your body feels after consuming different foods and connecting that to future decisions around eating. We provide guidance and feedback on how to consume a diet that nourishes your body and mind. This includes creating a roadmap for how you will change your relationship with food involving education around cooking, shopping, and sourcing. We aim to empower you to feel confident in your decision making around food. Through collaboration, we will turn that roadmap into tangible steps to facilitate change.

Satisfying food experiences are motivating, reenergizing, and nourishing. One essential attribute of being human is our ability to transform food into a pleasurable experience; no other species has that capacity. At Nourish Your Mind, we believe in collaborating with our clients and their team to create a personalized and sustainable plan to achieve your goals. Somewhere along the way we lose our innate ability to listen to our body’s wisdom. Together, we can recapture that and build a positive relationship with food.

Ethan’s experience with food:

I grew up in a very health-conscious household, in a family that had a history of obsession around food and a belief that dieting was the cure to a healthy body or a positive body image. It was not until I began working in restaurants that my relationship with food changed. As I discovered the language of food and cooking, I learned to evaluate food not in terms of its caloric content, but instead where it had come from, the soil it had grown in, how it smelled, looked, tasted, and even the impact it has on our environment.
