After obtaining her Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University, Jessica went on to provide counseling and psychotherapy services within the Hudson Valley area, specializing in treating anxiety and depression. Through her clinical work and her own experience, she began to recognize the immense connection between mental health and nutrition. Curious to expand her knowledge and share this with others, Jessica completed two different nutrition certifications with a unique approach to health – Nutritional Therapy and Eating Psychology.
The combination of mental health and nutrition expertise allows Jessica to offer a well-rounded, integrative approach to helping her clients meet their individual goals. Jessica is also a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist and incorporates these evidence-based skills regularly into her sessions. Jessica had suffered with chronic pain, digestive issues, depression and anxiety in connection with her condition and has used the techniques that she shares with her clients to heal her body. Jessica has found balance within her physical and emotional health – despite her diagnosis. Jeanette was born and raised in Orange County and is thrilled to return and be able to provide support to her community. Jeanette received her Master of Social Work from New York University, with a concentration in Clinical Practice. Through her own life experiences and growing clinical expertise, she has formed a strong understanding of the intersectionality of family systems, trauma history, maladaptive coping, and mental health.
Jeanette practices with an eclectic approach incorporating humor and authenticity. She is a strong believer in meeting the client where they are and not forcing the therapeutic process. Jeanette began her career as a school social worker in a Special Education setting where she worked with adolescents who suffered from anxiety, depression, and school phobia. Being in a Special Education setting taught Jeanette the importance of seeing every person as an individual, not by their disability or trauma history. She enhanced her engagement skills by maintaining flexibility in her approach with students who had a variety of different needs. Her biggest takeaway through this work experience was understanding the perplexity of mental health and how all too often, people can be misunderstood and misrepresented when we don’t take the time to listen.
Jeanette has created a foundation of knowledge on trauma to best support children, adolescents, and their families. Jeanette utilizes her ability to connect with children and adolescents to further help families improve communication and support towards each other.
While working within the county, Jeanette realized the lack of resources for several disorders which motivated her to continue learning and growing as a clinician. One community in particular that she realized is all too often misunderstood and incredibly serious is eating disorders. In hopes to help fulfill the need within the community, she furthered her training in eating disorder treatment and co-occurring diagnoses. She is an advocate in education and raising awareness to best support someone with an eating disorder and their families.
Jeanette enjoys academia and takes pride in continuing her education to remain relevant with techniques. She recently completed a post-graduate advanced degree in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health. Jeanette believes there is always more to learn and improve as a clinician and human.
