What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy?

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that treats problems and boosts positivity by modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. Unlike traditional psychoanalysis, which probes childhood wounds to get at the root causes of conflict, CBT focuses on solutions, encouraging clients to challenge distorted cognitions and change destructive patterns of behavior.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of CBT that helps to decrease negative thinking, change behavioral patterns and improve your quality of life. DBT focuses on learning and implementing coping skills to effectively modulate thinking and behavior.

DBT Treatment has been shown to benefit individuals with the following:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Groups:

Learn coping skills in the areas of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness to help you thrive and improve daily functioning. DBT skills can be extremely beneficial for anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD and more!

Young Adult DBT Skills Group (Led by Kara Bucci, LMSW) 

Every Other Monday from 6pm-7:30pm – Starts April 9th!

Ages 18-24. Registration required. 

Adolescent DBT Skills Group (Led by Rachel Spear, LMSW) 

Each Wednesday from 7:30-8:30pm – Starts April 18th!

Ages 14-17. Registration required.
