Learn more about Lauren in her own words…

What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

Worry less, love and laugh more.

What is your favorite part about working for Nourish Your Mind?

Having the opportunity to do what I love at a practice that shares my values for health and healing.

Tell me how you first got involved in with Mental Health . . .

I have always wanted to be in a profession where I could live a life guided by compassion. In mental healthcare one has the ability to empathize with another person’s pain and assist that person in finding a way of improving their life. That partnership is one of the most amazing things a person can participate in.  Seeing the transformation that happens in the healing and growth process is a beautiful and fulfilling experience that I feel privileged to have.

What do you like most about your job at Nourish?

Having a healing space where I can embark on a journey of positive change with my clients.

What are your hopes for the future of the Mental Health Industry?

I hope that we can enhance opportunities for complementary and alternative treatment and recognize the connection between engaging with our natural environment and the health and healing of our mind, body and spirit.

How would you describe your style as a Therapist?

I am deeply empathetic and enjoy providing clients with the tools to create a more balanced and satisfying life by working toward client centered goals.

What do you feel makes you unique as a Clinical Social Worker?

My focus on horticultural therapy and drawing upon the themes in the natural environment make me unique.

Motto or personal mantra?

Quote: “Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”

― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring

What is the biggest career lesson you’ve learned thus far?

Do what you love and what you are passionate about and you will be successful and feel fulfilled.  We spend so much of our time working it is important to do something that brings us joy.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about seeking counseling services for the first time?

You have so much courage for taking the first step. It is such an amazing gift to yourself to take the opportunity to make a positive change in your life.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

Garden, grow, and spend time with friends and family.

What is an ability you wish you had?

I think we’ve been given everything we need we just have to reconnect with ourselves to access all of our natural abilities.

If you were an animal what would you be? And why?

I recently acquired some goats and I think that is the animal I would choose to be. They are kind, caring, fun-loving; they live in the moment and are vegetarians like me!

What children’s character can you relate with most? And why?

Heidi because she loves nature travels from country to city and back again and enjoys living a simple, grounded life.
